De masterclasses staan open voor zowel barokhoboisten als voor moderne hoboisten die het interessant vinden om meer te leren over barokmuziek.
We behandelen natuurlijk de basis; een goede ademtechniek, juiste houding en embouchure. Daarnaast is er veel aandacht voor het maken van rieten en het bijwerken ervan. 
En tot slot natuurlijk de historische uitvoeringspraktijk; we spelen sonate’s maar ook orkestwerken en leren de basis van het orkestspel in een barokorkest. Als uitgangspunt mag je twee sonate’s voorbereiden van bijv. Haendel, Sammartini of Telemann. Daarnaast krijg je van de docent een orkestwerk toegestuurd om voor te bereiden. 

Biografie
Als klein meisje zat Nienke al uren naast haar vader op de orgelkruk en kreeg ze de liefde voor muziek met de paplepel ingegoten. Samen muziek maken bleek het allerleukst, en daarom was de blokfluit een logische keuze. Al vroeg werd haar talent opgemerkt en ging ze als 15 jarige naar de jeugdopleiding van het conservatorium. Gezegend met een goed stel hersens stond ze vervolgens als 19 jarige voor een moeilijke keuze, naar de hoofdopleiding van het conservatorium of toch muziekwetenschap studeren? Ze koos uiteindelijk voor het laatste maar het duurde niet lang voordat ze het muziek maken begon te missen, en toelating deed tot het conservatorium van Utrecht. Twee studies combineren bleek pittig, maar niet onmogelijk en uiteindelijk slaagde ze met prachtige cijfers voor beide studies. In die tijd hoorde ze de mooie klanken van de barokhobo en besloot er een studie aan te wijden. In een recordtempo had ze het onder de knie, onder de bezielende leiding van Antoine Torunczyk aan het conservatorium in Parijs. In haar laatste jaar specialiseerde ze zich in de klassieke hobo, ook in Parijs. Tijdens haar studie speelde ze al met toporkesten uit de hele wereld zoals Les Concerts Spirituel, Les Arts Florissants, Concerto Copenhagen en Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. Na haar studie kreeg ze een vaste plaats in het Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra en speelt ze met orkesten zoals de Nederlandse Bach Vereniging, Concerto Copenhagen, Les Arts Florissants en het Gabrieli Consort.

The masterclasses are open to baroque oboists as well as to modern oboists who are interested in learning more about baroque music.
We cover the basics, of course; good breathing technique, correct posture and embouchure. In addition, a lot of attention is paid to making reeds and updating them.
And finally, of course, the historical performance practice; we play sonatas but also orchestral works and learn the basics of orchestral playing in a baroque orchestra. As a starting point you can prepare two sonatas by e.g. Haendel, Sammartini or Telemann. In addition, the teacher will send you an orchestral work to prepare.

Biography
As a little girl, Nienke had been sitting next to her father on the organ stool for hours and she learned to love music from an early age. Making music together turned out to be the most fun, so the recorder was a logical choice. Her talent was noticed early on and at the age of 15 she entered the youth academy of the conservatory. Blessed with a good set of brains, she was then faced with a difficult choice as a 19-year-old: to the main course of the conservatory or study musicology? She eventually opted for the latter, but it wasn’t long before she started to miss making music and was admitted to the Utrecht Conservatory. Combining two studies proved challenging, but not impossible, and she eventually passed both studies with excellent grades. At that time she heard the beautiful sounds of the baroque oboe and decided to study it. She mastered it in record time, under the inspiring leadership of Antoine Torunczyk at the Paris Conservatory. In her last year she specialized in the classical oboe, also in Paris. During her studies she already played with top orchestras from all over the world such as Les Concerts Spirituel, Les Arts Florissants, Concerto Copenhagen and Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. After her studies she became a permanent member of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and plays with orchestras such as the Nederlandse Bach Vereniging, Concerto Copenhagen, Les Arts Florissants and the Gabrieli Consort.
